A 10days-long road trip through Tuscany is a fantastic way to explore the region's picturesque landscapes, charming towns, and delicious cuisine. The trip can be tailor made accordingly to the season (summer is quite hot), the number of days you can stay and the number of hotels you are available to change. Experiences/Extras can be added to enrich the journey with special memories. Here is a first suggested itinerary to start, changing the hotel everyday!

Day 1

Arrival at Pisa International Airport and Rent a Car

Upon arrival, pick up your rental car and head to the charming town of Lucca (40 minutes drive). Explore the historic center, including the Cathedral of St. Martin and the beautiful city walls. Rent a bike to enjoy a leisurely ride along the fortified walls.

Day 2

Pisa-Volterra-San Gimignano

Start your day in Pisa (30 minutes drive). Visit the iconic Leaning Tower, Piazza dei Miracoli, the Baptistery, and the Cathedral. Drive to San Gimignano (2 hours) with an optional stop in Volterra. In San Gimignano, explore the medieval towers, Collegiate Church, and Piazza della Cisterna.

Day 3

Siena

Drive to Siena (45 minutes), stopping in Monteriggioni for a glass of wine. Explore Siena's historic city center, including Piazza del Campo and the Cathedral. Visit the Siena Civic Museum and take a leisurely stroll through the medieval streets.

Day 4-5

Val d’Orcia - Tufa Villages

Embark on a scenic drive through the Tuscan hills of Val d’Orcia, known for its breathtaking landscapes and medieval villages. Avoid main roads and visit Montalcino (50 minutes drive), San Quirico d’Orcia (20 minutes drive), Bagno Vignoni (15 minutes drive), and Pienza (25 minutes drive). Relax in the hot spring baths in Bagni di San Filippo before reachingthe off-the-beaten-path villages in the Southern part of the region: Sorano, Sovana, and Pitigliano. If you enjoy hiking, take advantage of the scenic trails. Consider a visit to the Tarot Garden in Capalbio (1 hour drive).

Day 6-7

Orvieto-Montepulciano

Drive to hilltop Orvieto (1 hour) and explore its beautiful cathedral and underground city. Continue to Montepulciano (1 hour drive), renowned for its wine and Renaissance architecture. Visit the Piazza Grande and the Cathedral before heading to a vineyard for a tasting of local Nobile wine.

Day 7-8-9

Chianti-Florence

Drive towards Florence, taking the panoramic route through the Chianti valley, passing through tiny villages like Gaiole, Radda, Castellina, and Greve. Stop at a winery for a tasting or consider taking a cooking class. Explore Florence's iconic landmarks, including the Florence Cathedral, Giotto's Bell Tower, Uffizi Gallery, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio. Indulge in some shopping for leather bags, shoes, and gloves. Conclude your stay with a farewell dinner in one of Florence's delightful trattorias.

Day 10

Flight Back

Depart for the airport for your return flight.

    The area is fascinating the whole year around. However, villages are lively from April until October when the weather is warm and sunny. Swimming is possible from June until October. If you prefer going in the winter, we will privilege the Tuscan city vs villages.
